Swamp dragons dwell deep in the darkest boggy areas of Black Mere. Solitary creatures, these dragons over millennia have developed to their semi-aquatic life, having little or no need for flight their wings have atrophied and do no more than giving assistance in swimming.

Their eyes have grown large to help see in the gloom and have shifted to the tops of their heads much like crocodiles. Perhaps the smallest dragon of the species they are none the less lethal and are very well adapted to their environment.

Swamp dragons no longer have the ability to breathe fire; instead, the unburnt gasses they produce can knock out their prey at close range with stealth being their chief weapon, making them a very dangerous and beastly adversary to come across in the wild.
