Since I first started collecting miniatures in 83/84 I’ve loved undead miniatures. With classics like the skeleton ‘children of the hydra’ from Jason and the Argonauts to fuel my imagination when it came to sculpting they were one of my favourites to work on. Since forming Diehard Miniatures i’ve had a chance to start sculpting a range of undead that i’ve always wanted to see, and there’s so many more sculpts I have planned for both Fantasy and Sci-Fi that i’m chomping at the bit to start on them 🙂
I’ve always thought undead to be scarier if they were dressed and looked just like their living comrades, not dressed in silly over the top outfits (as if once dead they shop at some bizarre garish over-the-top outfitters that had a made fit in the skull section when adding things to their armour). The horror of facing off against your now dead friends dressed and armed like you, now that’s where I’m at! To this end, you’ll find all Diehard undead dressed and armed like this, the only exception obviously would be the liches and necromancers who’d have thought on appearance 😉
As mentioned i’ve so many more ideas on where Diehard will go with future undead, in my mind I have a KS pencilled in for 2021 working title ‘The Battle of Black Mere’ in which the tide of the undead is forcing its way through the Eru-Kin swamps and bringing these two factions to war. New units for both Undead and Eru-Kin will be planned that include mounted troops! All very exciting stuff but I still have a mini KS to run in June followed by my main KS in October, so I can’t get too carried away just yet 😉
There will also be plans for more Sci-Fi undead, the ones in the range have so far proven very popular and I feel it only right to expand on these guys, so expect to see their ranks grow very soon!! 🙂

Tim Prow has over 25 years of experience as a professional miniature sculptor. Starting out at Games Workshop as a miniature painter on the ‘Eavy Metal Team in the late ’80s. Tim has worked in house for both Ral Partha and Wizkids. Diehard Miniatures is his brainchild.
